"Barney Ross (Sylvester Stallone), Lee Christmas (Jason Statham), Yin Yang (Jet Li), Gunnar Jensen (Dolph Lundgren), Toll Road (Randy Couture) and Hale Caesar (Terry Crews) --with newest members Billy the Kid (Liam Hemsworth) and Maggie (Yu Nan) aboard-- are reunited when Mr. Church (Bruce Willis) enlists the Expendables to take on a seemingly simple job. The task looks like an easy paycheck for Barney and his band of old-school mercenaries. But when things go wrong and one of their own is viciously killed, the Expendables are compelled to seek revenge in hostile territory where the odds are stacked against them. Hell-bent on payback, the crew cuts a swath of destruction through opposing forces, wreaking havoc and shutting down an unexpected threat in the nick of time - six pounds of weapons-grade plutonium; enough to change the balance of power in the world. But that's nothing compared to the justice they serve against the villainous adversary who savagely murdered their brother."
Cast: Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Chuck Norris, Terry Crews, Randy Couture, Liam Hemsworth, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Bruce Willis, Arnold Schwarzenegger
Director: Simon West

Review:
Hollywood's Men of Steel/action gods/the biggies/the old-school action figures, sharing the silver screen with each other, what's not to root for about it? The Expendables 2 is certainly an all-kill for action movie lovers and the people who followed the careers of Slyvester Stallone, Bruce Willis, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jean-Claude Van Damme and the others.

No sooner does the camera start rolling and we already find the heroes in action, running between tanks, shooting here and there, to rescue an old-time buddy. Barney Ross (Slyvester Stallone) and his troop were given a mission by Mr. Church (Bruce Willis), to retrieve a blue print from a crashed plane in Albania. Jean Vilian (Jean-Claude Van Damme), spoils the success of Barney's mission when he takes Billy the Kid (Liam Hemsworth) as his hostage and demands for the blue print in exchange for Billy's life, but still killed him before leaving. Ross wanted revenge for Billy's death and decided to track Vilian. Firing guns, explosions, combats, punch lines and one-liner insults to mates are delivered throughout the course of the hunt for Vilian. With all the gun use and explosions and chaos of the action throughout the movie, it was ended by a hand-on-hand combat between Stallone and Van Damme, with Stallone exacting his revenge for Billy's death.

I must say that I liked the movie even though it was not until the end before I recognized all the actors in the movie. As I said earlier, I'm not much of a fan of this kind of movie genre therefore I can only recognize a few of the actors namely Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Jet Li and Liam Hemsworth because he is Thor's brother who I love very much. :P Throughout the movie, I kept on asking who was who and kept on forgetting that I've watched Jason Statham's movies before. xD

What I like about the movie is that it is action-packed yet did not fail to be funny and entertaining at times. I especially loved the one-liners thrown by the actors with each other as they are insults about each other's solo careers.
"Spotting an aircraft on its last leg, Stallone says, "That plane belongs to the museum." Snaps Schwarzenegger, "We all do."
Moreover, Stallone's "Rest in pieces." and Norris' "After 5 days of agonizing pain, the cobra died." were the best punch lines for me. I'm also impressed with Liam Hemsworth's acting tho it was quite short. He fitted in pretty well with the veterans and gave his role a justice, so much better than his role in The Hunger Games. I also like the direction and the cinematography. The fight sequences were done well, especially that of the airport scene. The actors (everybody were there except for Jet Li and Liam Hemsworth) were given their separate action scenes.

On the other hand, what I don't like about the movie are the cameo appearances of some of the biggies - Jet Li, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis and Chuck Norris. Their cameo appearances were too short! They were wasted. I think all of them should be part of the all-action stuff throughout the movie. I wanted to see more of Jet Li and Chuck Norris but well, nothing can be done anymore. And I understand that Liam's role was supposed to be the catalyst of the movie but still, he could have done more. (I'm becoming a fan girl O.o)

Over all, I found the movie enjoyable. It's something you can watch when you want to be entertained and especially if you like the film's stars.
